About me

Born 1973 in Canada, I lived awhile in upstate New York before moving to London in January 2006.
I studied photojournalism in college, and have focused on street photography for a number of years.

I’m still photographing, but more recently have focused on project editing and continuing my education – I completed my MA in Publishing from Oxford Brookes University graduating with distinction in Jan 2016. My research dissertation is entitled Current dynamics of the photobooks market, future publishing viability, and potential for audience expansion.

I founded the visual arts publishing imprint Overlapse, releasing the acclaimed photobook The Longest Way Round by Chris Dorley-Brown in Nov 2015.

Recently I’ve worked with photobook designers Ramon Pez and Laia Abril during a workshop organised by LePhotobookFest (Paris, Nov 2015); photographer/publisher Jason Fulford in his excellent workshop, Visual Language: How Pictures Speak to Each Other at VSW in Rochester, NY (June 2014); and participated in Magnum Photos’ intensive Book Making Masterclass with David Alan Harvey, Stuart Smith and Gordon Macdonald of GOST books (London, June 2013)

I am a committee member of London Independent Photography, a group founded in 1987 to encourage photographers to develop a personal, expressive approach in their work. From Winter 2009 – Autumn 2013 I edited fLIP magazine – London Independent Photography has published a print magazine since 2000 and on taking the position of Editor I implemented the development and redesign of a new title and updated format.

I also do commission editing for independent photographers making books or planning exhibitions, and review photographers’ portfolios, most recently at Voies Off during Rencontres d’Arles (2016).

Since 2008 I have spoken about my photography with various photographic groups, and lead intermediate-level workshops on the topics of street photography (‘Approaching the Street’), developing personal projects and editing photographic work (‘Starting Points for Project Editing’). Feel free to contact me if you are interested in working with me in this regard.
